Sports Power Junior Series

This series of junior tournaments is conducted at various venues including the Albury Grass Courts, Wodonga Tennis Centre, Wangaratta Tennis Centre and Yarrawonga Tennis Centre.

There are various boys and girls ages groups. Events are played on nominated Sundays and provide a great opportunity to participate in round robin singles events. The full list of dates is shown on the event calendar.

If this is your first experience of tournament play or you are looking for ongoing tournament experience the Sports Power series is for you. Points are allocated for reaching the semifinals. You can enter as many event days as you wish.

Albury Junior Tennis

The ATA organises and participates in a wide range of regional junior development programs. This work involves a high level of volunteer input which is greatly appreciated. Listed below is a shows the various components of our Junior Development Program.


Junior Social Tennis

Junior Social Tennis

For boys & girls 5-14 just starting out. Emphasis is on having fun with general guidance morning on technique, skills development, rules and etiquette. Two levels -mini court games for the junior social first timers using ITF "Stay & Play" principles and junior pennant with different levels based on ability and skills. Players can quickly move through the groups as their skills develop or tennis stay with their friends. No commitment to playing every week. Pay as you go.

Saturday Afternoon

Saturday Afternoon Pennant

Boys and girls that are looking to advance their tennis or just play with friends in organized afternoon competitions. Parents are encouraged to play with their children.

Teams are organised by local clubs with plenty of scope for rostered days off to accommodate those other import family events.

The ATA through its very active Tournament Committee works with other Associations in Tournaments developing the regional junior tournament circuit. Juniors can gain experience in competition (round robin) singles and some doubles tournaments at various centres. Gradings accommodate those starting off on their "tennis journey" and those that are "well on the way".

Margaret Court Cup

Margaret Court Cup

An Australian Junior National Points Tournament held at the Albury Grass Courts and also utilising grass courts in Wodonga that is held in early January each year. Entries normally close in early December. This tournament sees some of the best juniors from across Australia and overseas participate. Many local juniors participate to test their skills against the best or just to have some fun.

Opportunities exist for enthusiastic and proficient juniors to be selected in various event teams such as the ATA Baker Shield Team, ATA Barton Shield Team, ATA Eric Johnson Cup Team, Classic Round Robin Champion of Champions Team, and the Southern Sports Academy Squad.

The ATA supports a PRIMARY SCHOOLS PROGRAM where students can participate in tennis activities either at the respective primary schools or at the Albury Tennis Centre during school hours.
